Kimberly  Kuntz (Simmermaker)

As the Events, Outreach and Communications Coordinator, Kim handles the planning, running, and coordination of conferences, summer schools, and workshops at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC).

Kim is available to help with activities related to IQC events, such as:

  • Budgets
  • Logistics
  • Help with invited speakers
  • Execution of the event
  • Registration
  • Website development
  • Promotion

As well, Kim helps manage the Undergraduate Research Award program. She is the main contact for international students before they arrive and coordinates with the admin team for the Canadian student. She also:

  • Arranges housing
  • Ensures that the students have their safety training
  • Manages/provides resources for the students during their stay with IQC

Before joining the Communications and Strategic Initiatives team, Kim started with IQC in 2008 as a receptionist, and also spent a period as Event/Visitor Coordinator.

Kim received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Development Studies, as well as a Diploma of Social Work at the University of Waterloo. Since joining IQC, Kim has continued her education with certifications like project management.
